Building Bridges: Portraits of LGBTQ Asylum-Seekers and Immigrants is a photo-text exhibit created  for CLGS by Family Diversity Projects (FDP): it highlights the personal stories of LGBTQ individuals who have sought to build new lives here in the US.

Created from FDP’s larger Building Bridges: Portraits of Immigrants and Refugees Exhibition, Building Bridges focuses specifically on the stories of LGBTQ immigrants and asylum-seekers in the United States.  Their personal stories are certainly full of hope and yet they can also be painful to read and to contemplate.

In the interviews featured in this exhibit you will learn why these people have sought to become citizens of the United States and how much they yearn to contribute to the life of our nation.

We hope that these stories and faces will help broaden your understanding and empathy for people struggling to find a safe home in our country.
