In this workshop, members of the Trans Religious Leadership Cohort explored how rituals can be sources of collective and individual power, especially in times of transition. In addition, We Cohort members drew upon the deep histories of queer communities adeptly creating special, sacred places where we play with rules and traditions.

Led by a group of trans and genderqueer religious leaders from multiple faith traditions, we invite you to view this event in which participants experienced, shared, and recalled the spiritual side of organizing and activism.

The Trans Religious Leadership Cohort

For 12 years, CLGS, the Freedom Center for Social Justice and the National LGBTQ Task Force have sponsored the Trans Religious Leadership Cohort, a program for transgender and genderqueer seminarians in the United States. During this year-long program we mentor several Trans and gender non-conforming students each year to support their training for religious leadership so that they complete their degrees at their home educational institutions, feel equipped to follow their vocation, and also embrace the fact that their impact as faith leaders can and should extend beyond their chosen settings for ministry and service to include the welfare of the broader communities in which they live.
