Join us for a lunchtime discussion with fierce transgender activist and sex worker advocate, Monica Jones, as we explore the intersectional dynamics of racism, transmisogyny, and the industrial white savior complex that led to her 2013 arrest and coercive engagement with the Phoenix police department, the catholic church, and other faith based organizations.
Monica Jones has done extensive work both nationally and internationally to address issues of violence against sex workers and trans women, and as such this conversation will also provide insight into what types of comprehensive, non-coercive support services for sex workers are possible, as well as insight into how to support trans women of color.
This event is co-sponosored by the PSR Center for Gay and Lesbian Studies and PSR Student Life.
Free snacks will be provided!
