Join us for this CLGS Lavender Lunch with Rev. Dr. Daniel Rodriguez Schlorff, who will explore the identities, experiences, and spiritual lives of bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, and other bi+ Christians while addressing the unique challenges they face in both church and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of bi+ identities, examine theological foundations for affirmation, and learn how bi+ erasure and biphobia affect faith, belonging, and mental health. Through practical examples and actionable strategies, the session equips churches to move beyond mere welcome toward authentic inclusion, celebration, and leadership opportunities for bi+ people.
Whether you are bi+, an ally, a church leader, or simply seeking to learn, this Lavender Lunch offers tools for building congregations where everyone is fully seen, valued, and empowered to flourish.
Our Presenter
The Reverend Dr. Daniel Rodriguez Schlorff (PSR DMin 2019, CSR 2024) was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene in March 2000, and then further theological studies confirmed for him that queer sexuality was not a temptation from “Satan” but rather a gift from God.
Daniel now serves Third Congregational Church in Middletown, Connecticut, as its Senior Minister, curates the website BiFaith.org, and coaches clergy and other religious professionals through his coaching practice, ClergyAlive.com. Prior to moving to Connecticut, Daniel created and taught the first LGBTQIA+ Studies program at the University of Wisconsin—Parkside.
Daniel is currently studying for a PhD degree in New Testament and Christian Origins at Hartford International University for Religion and Peace (formerly Hartford Seminary).
