What erupts when extraordinary stories rise from the ashes of war, migration, and survival? In this CLGS Lavender Lunch, we welcome PSR alum Rev. Rhina Mercedes Ramos to discuss her powerful memoir, In My Heart, A Volcano.

Originally written in Spanish and published in El Salvador in 2024, and now available in an English translation by David Vine, this memoir in vignettes offers more than one woman’s testimony. It is a collection of “extraordinary stories of ordinary people,” Salvadorans who survived the destiny of violence and war, women who liberate themselves from abuse and lift up other women, and the haunting, hopeful memories of a young girl that inspire resolve and triumph.
